INTRODUCTION: The research problem revolves around the need to humanize urban spaces, especially due to epidemiological restrictions, notably those arising from the recent coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) pandemic and potential similar events in the future. AIMS: In this context, the general objective is to identify essential theoretical-conceptual foundations for interpreting the theme and central themes of the work, applicable to the management of (post-)pandemic cities. MATERIALS AND METHODS: With a qualitative and quantitative approach, its multiple structure of methods (exploratory, descriptive and analytical) was organized in three phases. The first was focused on the methodological identification of techniques suitable for current and subsequent urban realities. The second, substantially oriented to the systematic review procedures and bibliometric analysis of production found in the journal database of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), aimed at investigating the academic debate in the pre-established context of Latin America. In this regard, the string ‘(pandemic) AND (urban* OR cit* OR landscap*)’ yielded 840 initial results. After filtering by document type (article), chronology (2020-2022), and thematic areas (Multidisciplinary and Applied Human and Social Sciences), that total dropped to 411 works. Of these last, titles, abstracts and keywords were to assess inclusion attributes (theoretical configuration and clear approach to questions about landscape, space and cities) and exclusion criteria (non-discussion of the structuring topics of the investigation, in addition to empirical focus and non-open access to texts). The remaining 20 articles were read in full, according to analytical variables linked to the reading protocol (landscape, , and matters related to urban public policies). The final stage aimed to propose subsidies for the organization of project, planning, and management processes RESULTS: In response to the research question about the essential foundations of theorization and conceptualization, the results reveal a closer association with various dimensions of urbanized space, linked to aspects of planning, housing, management, and, as expected, health. However, texts focusing on landscape and technological circumstances are scarce FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: In conclusion, there is a relative dynamism between studies on urban consequences of health crises and those directed at solutions or opportunities provided by the disease scenario. Finally, it should be noted that the directions of theories and concepts in Latin American works are centered on the importance of the natural landscape in cities, stemmimg from the emptying of public spaces due to social isolation restrictions, with a return to normalcy in a context of threats to the physical and psychological well-being of citizens. These findings will enable, through the set of integrated investigations, the subsequent testing of the investigative hypothesis that innovative solutions and urban models applicable to the Brazilian reality, considering global perspectives, can mitigate current and posters impacts of pandemic events through the conformation of humanized scenarios.
