INTRODUCTION: The unbridled urban development has caused several environmental impacts, one of them being soil sealing, which is directly related to the generation of flooding points throughout the city. Moreover, the traditional urban drainage system has very simplistic techniques, contributing to flooding. OBJECIVES: With this in mind, the current research aims to map the main flooding points in the city of Curitiba, PR, identifying the causes and proposing solutions for this problem. MATERIALS AND METHOD: Through the dissemination of a form created in Google Forms, it was possible to identify the flooding points in the neighborhoods of the city and, thus, the mapping was performed through the QGIS software. When the survey was disseminated in electronic media, a total of 703 respondents were obtained, who reported the main neighborhoods that suffer from flooding, as follows: Boqueirão, São João, Alto da Rua XV, Cristo Rei, Prado Velho, Parolin, Centro, Pilarzinho, São Lourenço, Hugo Lange, Bigorrilho and Água Verde. They also mentioned the reference points where this accumulation of water happens, to be able to make the maps. RESULTS: It was observed, after the mapping, that the main neighborhoods in Curitiba, PR that are affected consist of regions located mainly in the Belém River and Barigui River basins. In addition, these flooding points were related to the slope of each location and the income of each neighborhood, being those with lower altitude and lower income suffer more from flooding due to the low altitude and the formation of irregular housing, respectively. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: With the completion of the research, it was possible to observe the need for the implementation of sustainable urban drainage measures, considering that the city of Curitiba has a high tendency to suffer from flooding. Also, as some neighborhoods had no respondents, there is a need for greater dissemination of the survey to reach a more diverse audience and thus achieve results closer to reality.
